counting days with any function

I hope one of you can help me in this. For counting number of days present for attendance i used countif function in the following way =COUNTIF(I27:AM27,"=P")+COUNTIF(I27:AM27,"=H"). This gives me the number of salary payable days. But if a person is present only for half a day, then i want to put small p and those cells should add only as half a day each. Please do help me on the function to be used.

Sir,

Your formula is o.k.

If you want half day sould add with the No. of working days simply divide the secound countif. Like =countif(I27:AM27,"=P")+countif(I27:AM27,'=H")/2.

Small p not considered, you should follow the H (half day) only.

Correct me if iam wrong
