Computation confusion

By Computation they mean the Details of the sources of Income because in ITR Only GTI and NTI is available hence mention the details of Income under every head along with the Deductions(Investments)

i dont think your argument is right

for example in ITR, there are clearly separate fields where we are supposed to give details salary as per section 17(1), 17(2), 17(3), basically everything that makes up the gross salary.

and then in the end GTI combines total of all sources of income.

Yor are right. All details which are given in the computation is already there in the ITR form.

But as the ITR forms are too lengthy and not easy to understand, Computation is generally demanded which provides all details of the ITR in systematic manner at one place so that it can be easily understood.
