Clarification regarding filling schedule fsi in itr4

Hello,

I'm a salaried professional with a freelance income. After a lot of googling and all I came to the conclusion that since I have salaried income and freelance income, I should be filing ITR4.

I started filling in the ITR4 form and then reached the Schedule FSI where its asking for details of foreign income.

Since i'm freelancing and I get paid from clients overseas using paypal, does this apply to me. Do i need to even fill this. I'm really confused over this one. It's asking for TIN or passport number both which i don't have. Please advice.

I dont think you have to fill it. Even though you get income from foreign clients, your services are provided by you in india and for services provided in India. only differece in you are providing service to people other those residing in india.

So, its income accrued and arrising in India.

And why ITR-4, why not ITR-1/ITR-2 unless free Lancing is your business/profession and principal work.

He saying is correct but should file itr4 having professional income.

Lot of things are important & some how missed in above discussion- 1. Is u r freelance income above 10.00 lacs, if yes, it attracts service tax.. 2. Has any of the customer deducted tds u/s 194J? If yes then definitely u hv to file u r itr in itr-4, if not, u may use other form e.g. itr 2.. If u don't know check form 26as after logging in income tax website 3. Whether u r employer is aware of Income from profession. If not.. U may contradicting with the terms of u r appointment and the info t
