Clarification about articleship

Hi friends,

I have qualified my PE-II in Nov 2007 and still not able to decide whether to join articleship or not as many people say that it will give value add only if you do it from BIG 4 or Top 10. There would not be any benefit if you are working with a firm which dont have good exposure( It would be equivalent to DUMMY). I am not getting any offer from either BIG 4 or Top 10 and i am confused whether to join a small firm or not.

Please can anyone bring some light into this and clear my doubts.

Whether dummy would be beneficial if i am not interested to join any small firm?

hey karan never go 4 dummy. don't loose ur heart if ur not able to get in to the BIG 4's. it's not the end in itself. u know what to learn the best in this profession u should always prefer a small or medium sized firm as there u'll have ur own independence and u can also get a reasonably gud exposure in a wide range of areas which u can never get in BIG 4's. In big firm's everything is so mechanical that u may never get the flexibility to apply ur own ideas and ur thoughts.

so take this as a welcome opportunity of not getting into the BIG4's and look for a small or medium sized firm which can offer u great exposure in Audits or Taxation depending on ur area of interest. There are many gud firms apart from the BIG 4's which can give u a better exposure that u may not get even in the BIG 4's. SO NEVER GO 4 DUMMY.
