As per instruction F.No.225/26/2006-ITA.II (Pt.) dated 08-08-2010, "a case may be taken up for wider scrutiny with the approval of the administrative Commissioner...". However in the case of client there are no records of such a permission sought. Also, the assessing officer has taken up the case for wider scrutiny and several other details are sought by him as per his order. Kindly advise what action can be taken? Also can we contend that the assessment undertaken by the AO is bad in law?

Thankyou Mr. U S Sharma. I read and understood the procedure and criteria for selection. Mr further query is what if selection is made outside the said criteria and also no permission of Administrative Commissioner is sought. What will be the consequence then?
