Then you have to file returns till the approval of gst cancellation. (This is only my view)
If there is no transactions, then you can file nil return.

Yes ,... you must file your return till you got the approval or certified by mailed that the registration has been cancelled

You must filed your final return with in three Months from the date of cancellation order.
