1.go for both groups.. apply for both groups.. do one group based on your convenience thoroughly and try attempting the other group too..
2.it would be better if you could take leave and do the preparation. video classes are good but the end of the day it is very much exhausting. more than the lectures from the video classes, you could go for crash or revision classes wherein you get a better idea of how exactly to prepare in the exams.
3.once you have a grip on the subjects you can very well go for self preparation. make sure to solve the entire practice manual atleast once before the exams. but i dont think for the may attempt it is adviceable that you go for self prep. attend a crash course if possible

Just go for Single single group otherwise after the exams u will be waiting for ur result for around 2months thinking what its gonna be ! Dont go for both if u havent taken any classes yet ! U can give group 2nd first then go for group 1st as there are lot of amendments in Taxes Also u can prepare Costing and isca side by side For direct tax and indirect tax u have to devote time on regular basis once u start doing DT or IDT dont miss on any days
