My articleship registration date is 10/9/16.
I want to take a transfer and last working day at my previous firm is 1/9/17.
Is it okay if my new firm articleship is registered w.e.f. 5/10/17

There is no issue with joining date.. You can join another firm anytime after taking the transfer and it has nothing to do with your 1st year or second year.. Your transfer date must be before 9/9/17...
Your transfer date is 1 Sept, therefore, you can rejoin at any date, irrespective of the fact that the rejoining date is falling in the second year...

Will my attempt be delayed if I join during first week of October 2017?
Depends.... If you have taken excess proportionate leaves till the date of your transfer and ICAI mention it in your transfer approval letter plus the gap between transfer and rejoining date, If summed up and exceed 30 April 2019, then your attempt will get delayed.
Agree with above . It seems yes it will get delayed due to this gap also. Calculate everything , i feel you must rejoin in September only to not delay your attempt.
I have taken 4 days leave in the first year of my articleship and taken transfer. Now when should I rejoin to that my attempt doesn't get delayed

in my opinion it has to be on or before 30th sept. why dont u show backdated joining. speak to ur new princi. infact show joining in sept thrid week itself. then later on adjust the same with ur new princi
