How to regularise additional director who is appointed 3 years back

u cannot regularise.. ask additional director to resign and then reappoint him again
Kindly first let me know how he is there from 3 years..? An additional director's tenure is only till the AGM that happens next to his appointment as per 161 (1). So technically if he has been in the company for 3 years, he should have been appointed as a director u/s 160 in the AGM referred above. What else regularisation is being questioned here?
