X of kolkata sends out 1000 boxes to Y of delhi costing Rs 2000 each.  1/10th of the boxes were lost in transit. 2/3rd of the remaining boxes were sold by consignee at cost + 25%. the value of sale will be

a. 150000

b. 140000

c. 120000

d. 100000

tell me how to calculate this sum

please kindly answer this question

The first one is Rs.4/=

because 1000Kg xRs.3=3000, freight Rs.   400  Total Rs.3400

Loss 15%  0f 1000=150 Kgs.

Balance 850Kgs

hence Rs.3400/850 Kgs=Rs.4

correct me if iam wrong.

u r correct kanagaraj

The second one may be Rs.15,00,000.

1000 box X Rs.2000 = Rs.20,00,000

1/10 of 1000= 100 box

Balance 900 box

2/3rd of 900 box= 600 box

600 box X Rs.2000=12,00,000

25% margin= 12,00,000 *25%= 3,00,000

so the Ans. is Rs.12,00,000+ Rs.3,00,000= Rs.15,00,000.

correct it if iam wrong.

Yes Your Both ans is correct but banupriya ur second question's option is wrong

Q1

  DESCRIPTION KGS   AMOUNT

  CONSIGNED @ 3 P/KG 1000   3000
  NORMAL LOSS 15% 150

  COST 850   3000
  ADD: FREIGHT     400
  TOTAL 850   3400

So, Cost per KG              = 3400
    850

    .= Rs. 4 Per KG

Q2

  DESCRIPTION BOXES   AMOUNT

  CONSIGNED RS. 2OOO EACH 1000   2000000
1/10 of goods lost in transit 100   200000

COST of goods available for sale 900   1800000
  Actual Sales 2/3 @ 25%Margin 600   1500000

  hope you understand the computation
