Access files without network?

Is it possible to access files from another computer if i know the IP address of that computer.

In my company, each time, i am asked to work in a computer and there is no netwrok between the comuters.

Any work done partly in one system , either i have to copy in a pen drive or CD or mail to my system.

Is it possible to access my frineds system if i know the ip address.

Will i be able to view files, access, modify, etc.
