Role Description
Handling all matters pertaining to Indirect Taxes consisting VAT, Service Tax, Excise, WCT, CENVAT etc. Shall be responsible to provide overall leadership to indirect taxation team . Maintaining cordial
relations with external agencies - sales tax dept., service tax dept. Monitoring, Issuance and Collection of statutory declarations. Validation of data required for filing returns under various statutes. Monitoring change in statutes that affect the running of business, communicating and
implementing the same. Good knowledge of Indirect Taxes in India - Customs, Excise, Service
Tax, Sales Tax / Works Contract Tax, etc.
Responsibilities
1. Analysis of tax implications of the proposed transaction depending upon the laws of respective tax jurisdictions of supplier and receiver of goods / services - CST vs local VAT, Works Contract Tax, Service Tax, etc.
2. Analysis of implications of Transfer Pricing, Income Tax perspective, etc.
3. Highlighting matters that require further evaluation and obtaining expert opinion where necessary from internal / external resources
4. Evaluation of various alternative routes for the transaction
5. Selection of the most tax effective route for transaction
6. Negotiation with vendors for proper tax structuring of the transaction / agreement
7. Developing proper systems for maintenance of records required for tax purpose
8. Providing guidance to project / accounting team at site for ensuring statutory compliance
