If there are two houses owned during the previous year.Out of which one is let out throught the year.

The second one is not self occupied and not letout till September. The assessee lived in the rented house till that time and claimed HRA. From Oct he moved to the second house. The query is in respect of the second house is

a. Can the assesee show this house as deemed to be let out and claim interest of Rs.2.5 (4-1.5)lacs lacs upto Sep as I am confused with the provisions of deemed to be let out propery which is that one house will be treated as deemed to be let out when the assessee is in possession of more than one house for self occupation. As in the above case both the houses were not used for self occupation.

b. along with the benefit of point a. can the assessee claim benefit for interest upto 1.5 lacs from Oct for self occupied property

assessee can show any house as self occupied property and one house as let out and he can claim deduction of Rs 1.5 lacs maximum for the both houses. If he has one house as sop his annual value would be nill and he can clain interest against this house.

As the assessee lived in a rented house...can  the second house be showed as deemed to be let out

and claim full benefit of the interest on housing loan...please clarify.
