Self-study in MAFA

Final 1354 views 6 replies
Hi everybody,

I'm appearing for May-07 Final GR-I. I'm unable to take private coaching due to  some reasons. I've already started preparing for Accounts, Audit & Law and though very vast these subjects seems a bit managable than MAFA. Can anybody suggest text-book on MAFA which starts with basic concept & is good for self-study. I had faced the similar problems in PE-II, but luckly got through (thanks to 60 Marks costing) I think for becoming a good CA, we must have grip on decision making subjects like MAFA. Hence, i would like to devote max. time on the subject for getting in-depth.

Please help me !

You can refer to J.B.Guptas books on MAFA its quite gud.. rajesh makkar is not bad either.... both r available in Puja law house in delhi
Hi Abhijit,
I expect that like PE II, you will also lucky in Final according to me You should forrow M Y KHAN & P K JAIN for MAFA preperation being I am studying such book, It should also noted that give more importance to theory.
You should take Book Written By Dr. J. B. Gupta on MAFA. It is a very good with all the concepts discussed in details in such a manner that even a CA PE -1 student can understand it. This book is available at Pooja Law House just next to CA Institute, ITO Bldg.
hello there,
MAFA is the most important subject u can never take it lightly but can surely preppare without classes. U can purchase :-
(1) MAFE by Ravi M. kishore from Taxmann for theory.
(2) MAFA by A. shridhar from Bharat publication on behalf of Tayal institute of professional studies mumbai.
both above books were referred by me and helped me a lot though i took classes also.

SOME important chapters are :-
(1) Derviatives :- futures, forward, options.
(2) foreign exchange risk & mgmt.
(3) Decision making (a) NPV method, (b) simulation (c) decision tree techinique.
(4) Capital structure :- Bonds v/s Share v/s Debentures.
(5) Portfolio mgmt :- BETA and its application , creation of protfolio, entry and exit of protfolio.

ALSO study Economic times news paper on mondays to wednesday and sunday edition. ANS also study these topis well. this is about 40-50% syllabus.

bye from shiv
