you need to get following registrations:

1. professional tax no.

2. service tax registration after ur professional receipts exceed rs. 9 lac in a year and u have to collect service tax after ur receipts cross rs. 10 lac in that year.

3. importer exporter code, if there is import or export of software.

Thank you for quick reply. There is a small problem here which I would like to discuss:

My permanent address is of Surat, Gujarat ( on Passport and PAN card ) and present address proof is in Pune. I might want to shift my location to Gujarat after few months.

In this case, my professional tax registration should be done in Maharastra govt. or Gujarat Govt?

Second, my professional receipts will exceed 10 lacs for sure. In that case, can I apply for service tax registration in advance or I need to do it only after I have actuall receipts exceeding 10 lac?
