hello friends, small query about VAT apllicability. If karnataka bhavan(govt.dept) cuts the trees after taking permission from forest dept, for their own construction work, and selling the excess wood for private persons.KB, as it is not a dealer in wood, should it charge VAT on sales by them to private persons or not? pl reply as soon as possible, thanks a lot

Yes they are liable for VAT.
Until they use it for their purpose its fine but once they go for reselling its taxable.
Please check the schedules for rates .
