254 views 4 replies

Hi

My son got education loan from Government Bank to study at abroad. The loan is in the name of 1.My son and 2 Myself.

My wife is guarantor.

I am a retired member.

Since my son is studying and I am a retired person my
wife is paying monthly education loan interest.

My wife is paying monthly income tax from her salary.

Here I want to know the above transaction is apparant is my wife is eligible to claim income tax exemption. Kindly clarify.

Thanks and Regards

no she can't since she's only a guarantor though she's paying the emi
loan is in the name of yourself and son , so you can only avail the deduction under 80E
