Transporting certain goods like liqufied petroleum gas for household purposes, kerosene oil, currency, unworked or worked coral, curd, lassi, buttermilk, fruits , vegetables, meat and cereals etc. do not require an eway bill. The list isn't restricted, there are many more goods, the transportation of which, doesn't require you to generate an e-way bill. There are certain transactions that do not require an e-way bill like : 1) if goods transported are transit from/to Nepal or bhutan , 2) if goods are being transported by non-motorised conveyance , 3) where govt. transports goods with rail as consignor , 4) goods are transported from/to Ministry of Defence , 5) from one custom port to another one under custom bond. There are so many other instances for transactions where e-way bill isn't required. It is also optional if the value of the goods being transprted is less than Rs.50,000.
