Confused about efiling itr1 with home loan interest

Efiling 816 views 4 replies

I am private salaried employee. I bought new home last year .i.e. July 2013. Got possession on 30 March 2014.

I have claimed 1Lk under Principal amount .

As I was not sure I will get possession of home in financial year 2013-14 , I did not claim Home loan Interest amount. ( someone told me one should not claim interest amount till he get possession in that financial year). I paid 1,57,000 as an interest.

My questions

Can I claim home loan interest in ITR1? If Yes Where, I mean under which column?

How much amount I can claim?

Do I need to Provide any documents  as a proof of paid interest?

yes you can claim interest in itr-1.... you are required to show it under the head income from house property as a negative value if such property is self occupied.... no, you are not reqd to give any documents to i.t.dept. regarding claim of intt.

Section 80EE also provide deduction for the same thing, you may take the benefit of this section after fulfiling certain conditions...

Thanks
