Advance Tax (100) : surcharge, cess breakup

To avoid interest/penalty I am paying advance tax + sufficient surplus amount for surcharge & cess : all under minor head Advance Tax (100) without breaking up as surcharge, cess. Will the surplus amount in advance tax paid, be adjusted for surcharge & cess later on while filing returns,or I have to break up and pay them under appropriate heads in the challan? Please advice. Thankyou

Quick Summary
This discussion addresses the correct way to pay advance tax, including surcharge and cess. While some suggest paying under the general 'Advance Tax' head (100) and relying on internal adjustments, the consensus leans towards paying the amounts under their appropriate heads in the challan. This method is considered best practice to avoid potential issues and penalties, even though internal adjustments are possible if the tax has already been paid.

With Break up, Pay appropriate heads in the challan...
Internal adjustment is possible

Well Said...

Actually it will be pay as per appropriate heads. That's also good advice...

Paid (or paying) one head is not advisable or good practice. Many of Taxpayer paid Single head (Tax) who is not know the payment heads or no time...

So, As a professional it's advised as pay appropriate heads.
