Shareholders

This query is : Resolved

19 November 2011 What is the difference between shareholder and investors?

19 November 2011 A shareholder is a person who invest his money by purchasing shares of a company.

Investor is also more or less a same person who invest his money.

So there is no diff in most of the situations.

19 November 2011 There are so many times of Investor all are not share holders. The shareholders means a person who holds the Equity as well as preference of the company.

But the Investor holds other instruments like Debentures, Bonds etc..

19 November 2011 there is a correction in first line it is "Types" instead of "times".

21 November 2011 The shareholders are the owner of the company, and entitled to have dividend only out of resreves and surplus. The declaration of dividend or extent of dividend percentage is not fixed. However, the shareholders being not direct business participants may be termed as investors.

However, in the case of Investors are generally agreed with the investee for a fixed return of interest.
