Marine engineer

This query is : Resolved

05 March 2015 dear readers, this is from a group of my friends who are all marine engineers. we have been thinking about the returns filing for the income tax procedure. past two to three years we have maintained the nri status. there is so specific requirement of ours to start filing now. but we are thinking to do it as we'll be maintaining the NRI status henceforth. please tell us whether by starting now, would our records from the past be checked? we have the records but have not filed them for the returns filing procedure. there has been a lot of misguidance about the returns filing requirement for the marine professionals. hoping to find our solution here. thank you in advance.

05 March 2015 No need to get confused. Do file the Indian Income Tax returns. It is always advisable to file the returns in the cases of Non Resident.
The past record may NOT be called for, unless some LEAKAGE is observed by the income tax department. In your case, whatever is gathered from your query, the record seems to be CLEAN. So go ahead and file the return.
