11 November 2011 Dear All,

Please let me if a company can maintain its Statutory registers in a place other than the place where its Regd office situated?

To be more specific, a co which has Regd office in Blore wants to keep Statutory registers in Mumbai
In Sec 163, There is a provision for keeping Statutory registers within local limits of City or town where Regd office is situated but it does not speak about the place outside such town or city.

Please help in this regard.

Regards,
Chandrashekhar

11 November 2011 Dear CS
in reference to the Section we can only interpret that there is a limit to alter the situation of the Statutory Registers. It specifically states that it can be moved atmost within the local limits of the city, town, village so we cannot take the same from Bangalore to Mumbai.

See if you can can get a different opinion but i dont think we can.

11 November 2011 Agree with the opinion of Srirang.
