For A.Y 13-14 I had e-filed my return, I was supposed to get refund but the bank account whose details I had given in my return is closed now. I have received a cheque and an Income tax Refund advice on 21.06.2014 from Income Tax Department containing the refund amount. The cheque is drawn in favour of my old account which is closed. I want to change the bank account details now.. Kindly advice me how can I change my bank account details so that I can get the refund.

U have to write an application to ur Assessing Officer regarding the matter. And after getting permission u must request again for the refund by logging in 2 ur account.

Thanks for the reply sir but both the reply seems incorrect. I just called up on toll free number of CPC Bangalore and they said that I do not have to write any application to any assessing officer. All I have to do is to mark the cheque as cancelled and resend it with a note that the cheque cannot be encashed since the account is closed. Thereafter CPC will sent me a mail to sent Refund reissue request and I can change my account.

If u know the answer, then what the need of asking it? Well, u can do that if u feels that it is true. But after that u cant held anyone responsible.

Sir I asked because I was not aware of the answer. I was trying all possible sources to get the information. Further I feel that that no one from CPC Bangalore will give wrong solutions.
