Income tax for adhoc lecturer.

This query is : Resolved

10 April 2012 Dear Sir,
I worked as substitute lecturer under UGC faculty development programme in a college for 2 years. my salary is consolidated in the range of 25000 to 30000/- per month. I had not received any salary during the tenure. My period of service is over and Now I am unemployed. UGC had informed me that the salary will be released in installments and last month I have received Rs. 300000/- through the college.
Candidates previously worked in similar post had not paid any income tax due to the reason that this amount will not be accounted for auditing.
Now, the college management is insisting me to pay income tax. Firstly, they told me that the amount will be deducted from the my check. Now they are telling that they cannot detect the amount due to non accountability. (because this amount has no link with treasury office and salary not paid through bank). The management is insisting me to pay individually and bring the challan and At present, I am not able to pay this amount.
Kind give a suggestion and help me.

11 April 2012 Submit your PAN copy to the college management and advise them to deduct TDS as may be applicable in your case, TDS does itself mean TAX DEDUCTION AT SOURCE meaning thereby to be deducted by the payer before making the payment.
Now the another interesting question comes as to under which section whether under Sec.192 as salary income or under sec.194J.

12 April 2012 The expert has express the opinion and the same is not bad
