What does pass percentage mean?

PLs let me know whether pass percentage is decided by (ICAI or ICMAI) or it is calculated on the basis of no. of students passed in the examination?
pls clarify in detail if possible.

calculation..

14 June 2015 It means there is nothing to fear about pass percentage, if i have got passing marks in any exam(CA or CMA) it means i am qualified?

17 June 2015 yes obviously as per rules if u get minimum marks like 40 % individually and 50 % in group.. u wil b pass
