U/s 80 c exemption on stamp duty and registration fee paid

This query is : Resolved

17 December 2015 Hi I have already filed IT return for the Financial Year 2014-15 (last year), in that year I had bought a residential plot (residential land) and had paid around Rs. 55000/- towards Stamp Duty and Registration Fee, but forgot to declare this amount while filing the IT return, therefore in this scenario I have below queries, kindly reply
Query : In above scenario can I file the correction Income Tax return for the Financial Year 2014-15? If yes do I need to send the copy of the Stamp Duty and Registration Fee amount ? And would there be any penalty on the corrective IT return ?

Awaiting for your kind response.

Thanks in advance

17 December 2015 Dear Fazle
PLs tell me the date you filed the ITR

17 December 2015 If u have filed ITR before 31/08/2015
then you can revise your return.

is no penalty on revision of the return.
And you do not need to send any of your documents pertaining to registration to the deptt.

17 December 2015 No deduction for stamp duty if paid for residential plot alone. To get deduction u/s 80C(2)(xviii), stamp duty has to be necessarily paid toward 'cost of house property' means land and residential building.
