Tds deductible on salary

This query is : Resolved

11 March 2014 an employee in my company has been recruited since feb-1 and his remuneration is RS 92,000 p.m ,should i deduct tds (his total payment in current yr comes to 1,84,000)

11 March 2014 if the employee has not informed you of any other income earned prior to joining your company, you may not deduct any TDS on the income being paid by you.

11 March 2014 you need to ask for a previous salary slips

11 March 2014 It is not incumbent upon the new employer to ask for the details of income earned from previous employer

11 March 2014 section 192(2) cast the responsibility on the employer only where employee has declared details of earlier income and not otherwise. Therefore it would be wrong to say that employer "needs" to ask for the salary slips

11 March 2014 Thanks kaushik........
