04 August 2016 Hi One of My friend is full time legal consultant in a mnc co.and apart from this he has provided some part time legal services to outsiders and received fee after deducting TDS. So my query is that is he liable to pay tax as income from other sources or situation should be something else?

04 August 2016 Legal is a specified profession. Income under this head is taxable under head 'profits and gains from business or profession'.

04 August 2016 Sir please clarify this if a person is full time employee in a co. and not in practice legal services then how we could said the service provide by him for

04 August 2016 He may be working somewhere. However, the income received from legal services are income from Business or profession.

04 August 2016 Salary income will be always taxable under the head 'Income from Salaries'. Net income from legal profession under 'business or profession.
