Surrender of company's pan

This query is : Resolved

10 October 2011 Sir, I am doing proprietary business and I have personal PAN no to my own name in individual status. But unknowingly i have applied for PAN to my proprietary business, the IT dept. has allotted PAN No as a private limited company to my proprietary business. Now I want to file the IT return for my proprietary business by attaching with my personal PAN.
Pl. tell me what is procedure for surrendering the PAN No. in company Status

10 October 2011 Following steps need to be followed to surrender duplicate PAN: -

1)Write a Letter to your AO: -

You need to write a letter to your Assessing Officer under whose jurisdiction you file your IT return STATING THE FACT OF SURRENDERING of duplicate PAN.

2)Give necessary details in letter: -

The letter must contain the necessary details like your name, contact details, details of the PAN card to be retained, DETAILS OF DUPLICATE PAN CARD(s) which you need to surrender, etc.

3) Acknowledgment: -

Keep the acknowledgement copy of the letter that you have filed with the I-T department, stating that you are surrendering your additional PAN.

NO OTHER FORMALITY need to be complied with after this 3rd step, you are safe enough as you have duly completed your part of duty as an honest assesse.

11 October 2011 thanks for your reply, and one more doubt is whether the surrendered PAN card original is attached with this letter?
