17 March 2010 Plz tell me whether a partner in CA firm can sign all the audit reports up to the ceiling limits on behalf of all other partners.

In other words, audit reports should not be signed by each partner up to the ceiling limit ?

18 March 2010 no, a partner can sign only 20 companies/45 tax audits of the individual's ceiling limit, he can not sign on behalf of other partners to increase the over all limit as mentioned above.

18 March 2010 i agree with you sir,
but in a CA firm,
normally some partners practice in direct taxes,
some in indirect taxes,
some in audit,
so how can all the partners sign the audit report ?
but at the same time the firm can accept audits on behalf of all the partners up to the ceiling limit.

18 March 2010 do you want to sign 100 audits by taking 4 sleeping partner in your firm, but CA institute does not allow so, thats why they fixed the limit.
