23 October 2014 We provide IT service and its a new proprietorship firm. Our revenue has not crossed 9lacs.
My question is:
1) How to tell clients that we can not charge service tax as we do not have revenue over this limit. The client is a big party, that is why we think he might ask about tax.
2) If we get registered for service tax now(before crossing 9 lacs limit), and charge client with ST, and at the end of the year the revenue is less than 10lacs, then do we need to file the ST?

Thank you.

24 October 2014 1. charging service tax or not is something that you do as per law. so your client asking for it or not doesn't make any difference. So just say that you will charge taxes as per law..clients are happy if they don't have to pay extra!

2. if the you collect tax, you will have to file the return and deposit the collected taxes to govt.
