With effect from 10.9.2004, the scope of service under service category of "Banking and Financial Service" is widened to include lending, issue of pay order, demand draft, cheque, letter of credit, bill of exchange.
Thus, Service tax would be leviable on the commission or service charges charged by Bank for issuing demand draft under service category of "Banking and Financial Service".
