This query is : Resolved

Hi, I have a friend who has sold his shares in a Private Limited Company which he was holding for the last 10 years. I would like to know the tax on the Capital Gain with indexation and also without indexation. The sale of shares is not subjected to STT.

Long term capital gain @ 20% (plus applicable surcharge & Ed. cess)with benifit of indexation.
Your case does not fall without indexation, it is for listed security.
