lost the a/c books

my cleint ( commission agent ) has lost the a/c books for f.y 2006-2007. now the case was under secrutiny. FIR launched before receiving notice for secrutiny. how could the assessing authority finalized the procceding of this case. which document A.O. demanding for procceding ? if any case/judgement related to that isuue then please provide me .
