Liability to payservice tax

13 July 2014 I wanted to know that-
there is a builder who is constructing row houses for three people alongwith own material,whether he would be liable to pay service tax for those three row houses if it is agreed in the agreement that the developer will not be liable for any service tax,vat for this purpose?

14 July 2014 In fact, the builder is a contractor here.An agreement between the buyers and builder can not absolve him from the legal liability of paying Service Tax.Land value is exempt. VAT is to be paid on the material value and ST on the labour and services value.....mjk
