Ledger folio number

If shares are issued to existing shareholder ,is it necessary to open new ledger folio or we should use the same ledger folio number?????

and what is the basic difference between ledger folio number and share certificate number????

03 December 2013 Dear Neha,

You can use the same ledger folio no is shares are issued to existing shareholder.

The ledger folio no is allotted to each shareholder of the company, whereas share certificate are issued after each allotment.

For Example; If further shares are allotted to existing shareholders, the ledger folio will remain same but the share certificate nos will not be the same. It will keep on increasing in each allotment.
