04 March 2013 Hi I completed My Post Graduation In Business Administration, 2 years course with 58%, in Symbiosis center for distance Learning and Its a Deemed University pls let me whether i am eligible or Not for registering IPC CA Course Under Direct Entry Scheme.
In Degree i have only 58% & hence I want go based on PGDBA.

Pls Clarify.

04 March 2013 No you are not eligible because for your course required percentage of marks is 60% to register for IPCC under direct entry scheme.

04 March 2013 i have read the notification for post Graduate 55% is the minimum Requirement and for Degree its 60%




04 March 2013 The 55% is for arts group students and other than arts group students it is 60% and your course isn't comes under arts group.

04 March 2013 Please read the notification by the ICAI below.

“(1A) Any graduate or post graduate referred to in sub-clause (ix) of regulation
2 shall be exempted from passing the Common Proficiency Test under this
regulation if such person is a -
(i) graduate or post graduate in commerce having secured in aggregate a
minimum of fifty-five per cent. of the total marks or its equivalent grade
in the examination conducted by any recognised University (including
Open University) by studying any three papers of 100 marks each out
of Accounting, Auditing, Mercantile Laws, Corporate Laws, Economics,
Management (including Financial Management), Taxation (including
Direct Tax Laws and Indirect Tax Laws), Costing, Business
Administration or Management Accounting; or
(ii) graduate or post graduate other than those referred to in clause (i),
having secured in aggregate a minimum of sixty per cent. of the total
marks or its equivalent grade in the examination conducted by any recognised University (including Open University).
(1B) Any candidate who has passed the Intermediate examination conducted
by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India set up under the Cost and Works
Accountants Act, 1959 (23 of 1959) or by the Institute of Company Secretaries
of India set up under the Company Secretaries Act, 1980 (56 of 1980) shall also
be exempted from passing the Common Proficiency Test under this regulation.
Explanation.- For the purposes of sub-regulations (1A) and (1B),-
(i) for calculating the percentage of marks, the marks secured in subjects
in which a person is required by the University (including open University)
to obtain only pass marks and for which no special credit is given for
higher marks, shall be ignored; and
(ii) any fraction of half or more shall be rounded up to the next whole
number.”.

The following categories of students are eligible to register directly for
Intermediate (Integrated Professional Competence) Course without passing the Common Proficiency Test (CPT):-
1. Graduates or Post Graduates from Commerce stream having secured in
aggregate a minimum of 55% of the total marks or its equivalent grade or other
Graduates or Post Graduates having secured in aggregate a minimum of 60% of
the total marks or its equivalent grade in the examination conducted by any
recognised University (including Open University).
2. Candidates who have passed the Intermediate level examination or its
equivalent examination by whatever name called conducted by The Institute of
Cost Accountants of India or by The Institute of Company Secretaries of India.
