26 July 2010 dear sir/madam
I was a contractual employee in the previous year 2009-10 and my age is 31 yrs. Now my contract has been renewed for one more year w.e.f 8th dec, 2009 to 7th dec, 2010. my gross salary is around Rs. 187000/-. my employer deduct Rs. 15624/- for EPF and i paid Rs. 10000/- towards LIC premium and deposited Rs. 40500/- in PPF. Now Income Tax is Nil. So. should I file the return? Till today, I have not submitted any return due to my gross salary was not touched I. T. taxable limit

26 July 2010 it is always beneficial to file income tax return.there is no restriction on filling income tax return under income tax act.

26 July 2010 ur gross salary is 187000/-, u are required to file income tax return mandatorily as income before claiming deduction under chapter VIA is more than rs. 160000/-


28 July 2010 Yes.... and you said you are contractual employee... Just check whether you have received Form 16 or Form 16A and accordingly file your return.
