Crysil certified analyst programme after cs

This query is : Resolved

20 August 2014 I am a B.Com. graduate. I began pursuing course for CS (Company Secretary) during my graduation. I didn't clear the second level of this examination i.e. Executive at my first attempt and waiting for results of second attempt. I am not sure if I choose to do CCAP or an MBA in finance then will the CS course end up being a waste of time and resources. As CS is mainly about laws other options will focus on finance. But I have seen CA certificate holders go for law after completion of their course and change of focus exists there also. Shall I drop CS course and go for CCAP as carrer prospects with CS certification solely does not sem to be for bright career prospect. Kindly differentiate between the CS+Law or CS+MBA or CCAP.

22 August 2014 See,if you are more interested in practical things and financial aspects then you should go for either MBA or CCAP.But even if you go for MBA then don't go for any mediocre college ,it will be a wastage of time and money.Try to go through CAT/MAT etc.
Yes ! only certification won't give you stable career. You should be able to be updated with all the laws applicable to the business environment, all ROC and compliance related work.
Mainly CAs who are in practice go for Law ,as it helps them in getting more clarity on the subject matter.

23 August 2014 Could you tell me if a qualification in course of CS be of any value for a person in finance. I am interested in going for Crysil Certified Analyst Programme (CCAP). I am currently waiting for results of executive level of CS. What will you suugest? Wether I should complete my CS certification before go'g for the finance field or not as CS will be of not much recognition in this field ?

23 August 2014 Hi Darshana!
See both finance and CS are different fields. It will be better for you to focus on your core of interest which seems to be finance and gain expertise in this, rather than gathering knowledge of other fields.
.Not only just MBA(finance)/CCAP but try to find out all other sources through which you can enhance your knowledge of your core area.It may short term certifications like if you decide to go for MBA then decide how can you get an edge over others.See in interviews, its mainly your selling skills(marketing your skills) and demonstration of knowledge of your chosen field that helps the interviewer to decide whether you are fit for a job or not.
If you decide to go for CS but with no interest and passion ,this itself reduces your future success prospects.
So,firstly decide what you want to do and why you are passionate about that field. Then work on gathering as much knowledge as you can and strive for perfection in that field rather than working on different fields at a time.
If still you want to continue CS then do it side by side for knowledge purpose as in CCAP ,I don't see much use of your CS degree. And in today's time number of degrees doesn't really matter. Its just your practical knowledge/expertise,presentation and communication skills that matters.
All the best.

23 August 2014 Your answer is really helpful. Thanks again. I have developed an interest in this finance pregramme offered CCAP seems to offer an opportunity to work and study together. As per my knowledge till date qualification has nothing to do with finance work in general and esp. in initial point of time. Its when one moves to senior positions that a certification in CS Course may prove to be an add on.
