This query is : Resolved

20 August 2010 In case if an independent director appoints an alternate director should he be also an independent director. pl clarify

20 August 2010 When ever an alternate director is appointed he is acting as director in position of director in whose place he is appointed.

Thus alternate director will also be independent unless he is promoter or related to the Company

20 August 2010 Agree with expert.

Any director can be considered as an independent director provided he is not drawing any managerial remuneration from the company.

Also MD and WTD are not considered as independent directors.

Thanks
