I wanted to know the legal and compliance requirements to start a cafe shop in Mumbai.. can any one give me detailed list of licenses and registrations required for starting a cafe shop.. it is very urgent if someone can help me in that..

If it is that urgent, you better start the shop.....shop act liscence, professiona tax, VAT etc. people will automatically make you aware of each and every law... no issues.

which people. ? I mean I still have 1 month time but all these requirements are to be done within 1 month so better to start applying now only. that is why need help.. I know basic requirements like VAT,PT,Service tax but other than that if I need to register for anything else then kindly let me know

are you going to manufacture the food in the shop Or you will be doing reselling only? For manufacture, you need to get the food liscence. You will get the same from BMC. You can make the enquiry in the nearest ward office of your area.

no it will be a franchise agreement.. I will use the raw material given by the franchise to make coffee . there are also other food items also..

It is manufacturing. You need to take permission. The liscence is based on turnover (as per your declaration) and the number of employees with you. Be in touch with the corporation dept, They will properly guide you. You can take service tax registration once your turnover crosses 9 lakh. VAT, you can apply voluntary or turnover based, as per your choice.
