Yes the principal is required to pay stipend for the whole of the articleship period including the leaves taken as long as leave is within the 1/6th period.
If you have taken excess leave, no stipend shall be paid for the excess leaves and yes, extension shall still apply.

Thanku soo much 4 d reply...even I think he should pay me for d leave which is within 1/6th period...but how can I convince him...I have no problem with extension...

if you have not completed articleship yet, non-payment of stipend is a valid ground for transfer.
Plus, anyways, you are not required to serve extension under him. once the three years are over. sign form 108 with him and Sign fresh 102 and 103 with another CA for the extension.

Its a logical conclusion. If the intention was not to allow any stipend for any leave, then there was no need to say that stipend wont be paid for extension period.

OK..so even if he says that he will pay me during my extension period...do I still have the option to take tranfer invoking non payment of stipend and to serve extension period with some other CA

if he is paying you stipend then you wont be able to take transfer. but after completion of 3 years, you can choose to undergo extension under any CA irrespective of whether your current CA is paying you stipend or not during the extension
