Income tax paper return

A person has filed his income retrun for the AY 13-14 using the paper reurn of AY 12-13 (Since the ITR Form for AY 13-14 were not available at the IT Office).However, the department treated the return as AY 12-13 and issued demand notice form the IT Office ( Not from CPC).Assesse later filed his AY 13-14 Return electrnocilally.

My queery is how to deal with the demand notice.We can't give online rectification since the demand notice is not from CPC.
