Defective return

My friends has filed a revised return in place of a defective return before the due date.He has recieved notice under 139(9) for the original return filed.Will the revised return be considered/does a new return need to be filed in response to the notice?

Response to Notice u/s 139(9)

1) Correct all the defects, take full Tax credits ,Take all allowable deductions Take correct income.

2) In "return filed under section" - select 139(9)

3) In Original or revised - "Original" Bcoz your return is original and the return filed b4 is defective in nature so it is not counted

4) Enter Notice No - under "defective Return "

5) Enter date of notice

6) Enter date of original return

Generate XML and upload and E-verify/send ITRV to Bangalore by Speed Post.

Thats it

Thanks for the response.But will the revised return be accepted or do we need to respond to the notice?

Hello friends,

I got defective return notice and then I filed income tax return in response to defective return notice. That income tax return ( in response to defective return notice) got processed. I am able to see that income tax return processed in tab efiled returns on site www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in. But whenever I login to www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in, I am able to see details of defective returns in pending actions column. Can you please help and clarify the reason for the same?

Also under tab pending actions, theyare asking to put some verification PIN ( which is mentioned in notice for defective return),which I dont have. I have copy of notice received on email but it is not showing any password.
