for 166 CAs openings BOI shortlisted only 13 candidates for interview.....shocking..around 5k CAs appeard in exam.....

Relax. If anybody knows who took BOI test, ask them what was the exam on.

RBI takes B grade (Manager's) exams which are open to CAs/ICWAs/CSs. Questions aked are on Geography and History. So only BAs and MAs with geography history can clear those entrance exams.

So don't jump to conclusions.

I had also given this exam and I was shocked to see the result. against opening of 166 candidates only 13 have been called for the interview.

Dear all, you interview 10 of your CA friends, you will find hardly one or two have the average level of knowledge( Forget about the Expert/Advanced knowledge which is generally expected by the ICAI) of Accounting standards which is basically called the backbone of CA profession.

you are right now a days students are sitting at home and studying for ca exam their parents provides best classes and books no worry about earnig so student study exa m oriented questions and if same arrives in exam they get easily clear . all do ratta bazi to clear exam.very few CA have knoweladge about the toppic

Agreed. Now a days CA's are not good enough when compared to CA's in 1990's

Dude that is called experience,those CAs are now backed by atleast 15 years of experience. That has what made them an expert. Studies only give you a headstart,and if even after you are not "dhasu" in your own field then there is a problem.

The condition of the economy is not good,even Tier 1 MBA colleges are suffering. As for comparing CA to MBA colleges is concerned,dont forget they pay anything between 6 to 25 lacs to get into a college,good or bad. Whereas a CA can be completed in less than Rs 30,000(sans coaching). So by measurement yard of MBA students,our return on investment is way better than them. As for quality of CAs now,people are still getting good job offers, the 13 people selected above are also our peers and members of ICAI. This is just hard luck for some of us and lack of experience for the dummy articles(pun intended) that they are not getting good jobs.

It is grossly incorrect to say all those who clear now a days are void of knowledge....its true that these days dummy students are having a great deal...but its the ICAI who is to blame...ICAI has failed to ensure that dummies are dealt seriously....further q papers are set in such a way that dummies can easily crack....CA Final May 2012 Audit paper is a good example.... ICAI need to take immediate steps in this context...

Hi Frieds,

First i want to clear that please dont link this result to competency of CAs. in this exam there was no neagtive marking..but it is same as paper of BA for the students of B.com..i guaranteed those who clear..i.e..13..its due to luck not due to knowlege..becase out of 5k its possible..they were hiring CAs nd asking about africa..think..hw can pass..even 1980s CA couldnt pass it..

yeah agree level of knowledge decrease..but its not happen suddenly..its come step by step..and blame to Students or fresher is wrong..icai is governing body..it is like mother for this profession..it can do anything..control there members for teaching..compulsion of industrial training..but this will not happen..in ICAI politics goes like indian politics..

and one thing more reason behind unemployment of fresher is not lake of competency..its only due to oversupply and bad market..

I would suggest you guys dont go for Banking Jobs.. They Hire CAs in MMGS-II and Net salary comes to Rs.31,000 and so much tension and frustration. further, we have to work along with all Clarical cadre and seniors are also not qualified. they come to this level only through promotions.... They really harass the professionals....
