Under Section 53 of the Companies Act, 1956 Certificate of Posting and Registered Post are covered under Service of Documents by Post.
However, Certificate of Posting has been discontinued by the Department of Post therefore, only Registered post and after initiative of MCA now e mail are available options.

Are you asking of senting notice to the shareholders? then it shall be through post
or as per latest notification of MCA even through E mail :) to the shareholders.......
and the co. should be served with a notice under registered postat the co. registered office :)b- sec 51 :) of companies act :)
