Gajendra is the Managing Partner of law firm Reina Legal that is having its principal office in Delhi/ NCR Region.
Gajendra holds a Master Degree in Law and is also a qualified C.A. and C.W.A.
Gajendra has over 20 years of post-qualification experience in the field of tax litigation, advisory and policy advocacy. He has been providing professional services to various domestic and multinational companies from manufacturing, telecommunication, technology, real estate, infrastructure, financial services and other sectors.
As an Advocate he has argued several indirect tax (Central Excise, Service Tax, Customs, Value Added Tax, Central Sales Tax etc.) and direct tax matters before Supreme Court, High Courts, Tribunals and appellate authorities.
In Delhi he worked with PDS Legal (law firm) and Ernst & Young (E&Y) for over seven years and was involved in providing litigation and advisory services on indirect tax issues to reputable clients from telecom, information technology, consumer durable, mining, automobile, media, entertainment, financial services, oil and gas industries.
Before moving to Delhi in the year 2004, he practiced with Rajasthan High Court for four years and argued numerous matters on varied subjects. He was also engaged in providing non-litigation services such as legal due-diligence, agreement drafting etc.
His experience also includes appearances before Income Tax Appellate Tribunal during his stint with Kalani & Company, Jaipur (primarily with Late Mr. C.L. Jhanwar and Mr. Shanjay Jhanwar) between 1997 and 2000.
Gajendra has closely worked with various tax experts having international fame, such as Mr. Satya Poddar, Mr. Rajul Awasti and Mr. Arbind Modi. He also has experience of briefing and working with various Senior Advocates of Supreme Court, viz. Mr. P. Chidambaram, Mr. S. Ganesh, Mr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Mr. N. Venkatraman etc. as well as Rajasthan High Court i.e., Mr. L.R. Mehta, Late Mr. M. Mridul, Late Mr. Rajendra Mehta etc. His father Mr. B.L. Maheshwari is also a practicing Senior Advocate in Rajasthan High Court, Jodhpur.
The firm, Reina Legal established by Gajendra in the year 2012 is primarily engaged in providing tax litigation and advisory in the field of indirect tax, general litigation in Supreme Court and other Courts/ Forums, and other legal advisory/ non-litigation services related to land, consumer, contract and other laws. The firm has also carried out assignments related to international arbitration, contract drafting and legal due-diligences for its clients.
The firm also has presence in the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain for undertaking VAT implementation assistance, advisory and compliances.
Currently, he has been engaged by IFC as a Consultant to help them in Value Added Tax (VAT) reform projects being undertaken in the States of Bihar, Orissa and Rajasthan.
In another prestigious World Bank project, he assisted Ministry of Finance of The Peoples Republic of China in an assignment involving Indirect Tax reforms in China.
In yet another World Bank project he assisted the Governments of Sindh and Punjab concerning property tax reform in Pakistan.
Recently, Gajendra has prepared draft of the book “Service Tax – A Practitioner’s Perspective” published by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Besides this, he is a regular Faculty/ Speaker for various Courses, Conferences, Seminars etc. organized by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (‘ICAI’) throughout the country. He is frequently invited by branches of ICAI located across the country to speak on GST.
Gajendra has also written numerous articles on tax and other legal topics that got published in reputable news-papers, magazines and web-sites.
