Wrong status in pan card

Please file 49A for correction of PAN card details. Enclose the Trust deed with it to show the assessee is a Society and not Company. But the point is the PAN will need to be changed. If the PAN is ABDCE1234X, it ought to be ABDSE1234X.

can assessing officer impose penalty in this case because of submission of false/incorrect information.

If yes then what will be the amount and under which section?

In my view you should have to apply for fresh PAN card and surrender the old one without using the same any more and if used any where till now intimate them regarding wrong PAN status after receicing the correct PAN card
