whether compensation received on surrender of LIFE /PATRON MEMBERSHIP OF SPORTS CLUB IS EXEMPT AS CAPITAL RECEIPT OR TAXABLE AS REVENUE RECEIPT OR AS CASUAL INCOME

There seems to be no case law available exactly on this point but as it is one time receipt of payment and there was meagre cost for obtaining membership many many years ago ,it can be treated as capital receipt or alternatively can the original cost of membership at the time of admission can be indexed treating it as capital asset.To my mind there is a risk in treating it as exempt being capital receipt.
